Our Story
Since 2003, Mudra Dance Studio in Syosset, Long Island, has been teaching the ancient Indian Classical dance form of Bharatanatyam to students from both Nassau and Suffolk counties. Since its inception, we have staged several concerts on Long Island and New York City. Mudra students have participated in cultural programs throughout the Tristate area. Through the years, we have supported several charitable causes by being a part of their fundraising initiatives.
As we entered our 10th year, we felt a growing need to integrate our passion for dance with a desire to give back to society. This was the inspiration behind The Mudra Foundation: Art for a Cause. Mudra literally means “symbolic hand gesture” during dance. In its non-profit form, Mudra has come to symbolize “a helping hand” to well-deserving causes.
